Wannabe GuruDan Rodriguez has started a new blog to help keep you posted on the build. Check in here from week to week for details. June 2008Government Programming UpdatesJune 6, 2008 PACTV will be cablecasting the High School Graduation Ceremonies for Plymouth North and Plymouth South High Schools LIVE from Memorial Hall on Plymouth Government Channel 15 (Saturday, June 7, 2008). Congratulations to the "Class of 2008"! PACTV will also be providing LIVE coverage of Plymouth's Special Town Meeting from Memorial Hall on Plymouth's Government Channel 15 (Monday, June 9, 2008). In order to bring these events to our viewers, Channel 15's signal will be switched over to Memorial Hall from Friday, June 6 - Tuesday, June 10, 2008. As a result, regularly scheduled re-plays of weekly government meetings will NOT be seen this weekend. Meeting replays will be rescheduled for cablecast next week. Check back next week for an adjusted government programming schedule. Thank you for your understanding.
May 2008"From The Dig"May 28, 2008 The studio is almost completed on the outside now. The carpenters are closing up the roof, and the sidewalls are done. Inside, the HVAC ducts are all in up in the ceiling, and starting next week, we’ll be seeing insulation and plaster. The next two weeks will see a lot of changes. No more big open spaces. We’ll see what the rooms look like in reality. It’s very exciting. Today, Dan, Melissa and I went to the WB Mason seconds store to looks at furniture. We need a lot of chairs for the control rooms and edit suites since the old ones are about at the end of their useful lives. We managed to find 18 chairs that are similar or matching – a great find that saved us a lot of money. Back to the construction site, we should be seeing some outside doors next week. The frames are in for the steel double doors, and the doors will be installed soon. Every day, we get a little closer to moving. In other big excitement, Dan and Donna announced their engagement on Tuesday. The staff is so excited for them. We wish them all the best – our first PACTV wedding! We’re also grateful to them for promising to hold off the wedding until AFTER the move! May 15, 2008 This week at the dig… The studio walls are up, and there’s plywood on the roof. It looks like the new studio will be weather tight by the end of Friday. Most of the rough wiring and plumbing is done, and all of the framing. Perhaps by next week, we’ll be seeing the plasterers. Also, the HVAC system is being done, so there’s ductwork being strung around the ceiling. Right now, we’re talking about paint and carpets, and looking for cabinets and counters. The staff has started cleaning up in preparation for moving. We’re still looking at the first of July as a start date for moving stuff over to the new place. May 8, 2008 From the PACTV Dig . . . Nancy Richard, Executive Director This week, we threw a party with shovels and hard hats, and a whole bunch of our friends came. PACTV’s Groundbreaking on Monday was a big success, with both of our state reps there, Vinny deMacedo and Tom Calter. Our board president, Leon Lopes, and other board members, as well as most of the PACTV staff and several of our members also showed up to toss a shovel full of sand at the foundation for the new studio. You can check out the video here and take a look at the "PACTV Groundbreaking Slideshow" below for lots of pictures of us wearing the hard hats that our architect provided (thanks Jeff). The walls are framed, and the plumber, electrician, and many other work crews have been in doing rough work before the plasterers come and close the walls. You can see the future as you walk through the space. It’s so exciting! "PACTV Groundbreaking" SlideshowPACTV hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking for our new studio facilities on May 5, 2008. Check it out here.
"Dirt Dug at New Digs"The Old Colony Memorial posted an article about the groundbreaking. Thank you to Kathryn Koch and Wes Ennis for attending. Read the article here.
